Surprisingly not many people here even though it was golden week. I think the rain might have scared them off but this cafe is fantastic! The atmosphere and lighting was fantastic for photo and video content. Much regressed lighting with a lot of natural light coming in. Also you can get a view of the castle from any of the seats. There’s a few seating options from facing directly at the castle to 4 seater tables to cushion seats. Nice place for a coffee and chat but maybe not for work!

Nice calm spot with AC in front of the castle, with great views out of the window. They had the famous gold leaf soft serve ice cream! A little pricey.

What an amazing place for lunch. We saw the sign for the Tsurunomaru Rest House and were hoping for something to eat. This small cafe has the most wonderful view of the castle from all of the tables. The food is delicious there is an English menu for you to try different dish (savoury) and snack (sweet) options. It was a bit of pot luck but everything we tried was yummy we had small rice cakes with fish, then a cheese cake, a fruit tart and bean paste cakes. We then had the gold leaf ice cream for desert. The staff are really helpful and speak some English. I would highly recommend stopping for lunch or afternoon tea here.

Amazing little cafe right in the castle grounds! At 750 for a tea and wagashi set, it’s not too bad, especially considering you get a view of the castle, right outside the window. It’s in the information stand building and there’s also a free area right next door if Japanese sweets and matcha isn’t your thing.

The cafe has a beautiful view of the Kanazawa castle. Very zen atmosphere. They serve nice coffee/tea and traditional Japanese sweets sets. We tried the soft ice with sweet soy sauce and it was delicious! Seriously don’t hesitate to try it. The service was a bit slow but we were not in a rush.

So quiet and peaceful on a rainy weekday. We tried the matcha, soft serve and iced desserts. Really generous serves, the fig encased in sponge was amazing and a generous size

A sweet tea house with a beautiful view of the castle. No one can walk in the backyard so you can have your completely peaceful moment. We got the tea set of 3 small sweets and an ice cream. Very delicious tea set and a perfect way to relax.

It was a wonderful experience, eating gold leaf ice cream while enjoying the view of the castle. It’s a bit pricy but it’s totally worth it, I highly recommend it
